Little cuties

This afternoon, in between the showers, I noticed a fledgling sitting on top of our well...

 What a cutie it was

It's parents were calling and it was off - only to return onto our parking area with its two brothers or sisters...

However not long after landing it started to rain heavily, young as they are, they headed under my car for some shelter!

Only to emerge and regroup again once the rain had stopped. They must wonder what it is that's coming down on them!

They definitely stuck together these three, with the parents calling again they were off into the pine tree in front of our kitchen window.

and then into the willow never to be seen again. So no chance of a feeding photo...

Our best identification is Tree Sparrow fledglings. There are that many small bird flying around the garden at the moment and we could not identify the adult birds at all only hear them calling..

They actually look like House Sparrow fledglings to us - the faint eye-stripe does it, as does the proximity to housing. People would realize just how attractive the House Sparrow is if it was a rare species.
The best way to decide which it might be is to look at which is your most common Sparrow and go with that.
Theren are also the hybrids. Tim saw a male "House" Sparrow that had far too white a cheek to be normal , but with the grey middle to the crown. Our resident spadgers [both sexes] chased it off!

Why don't the young listen to their parents?

I'm glad you don't have a cat, the poor little things look so vulnerable.....and cute.
